Tested on Mac - Chrome and Android - Chrome

If you add a Wifi password during the initial wizard settings, once the Pi restarts the Wifi ask for the password in a loop showing the same screen asking for the password, when you click " Join " the password you typed is erased, even if you type the right one, and you are unable to join the network. There is not message saying that the password is wrong either.

If instead of adding a WiFi password during the initial wizard, you added later on once you access the main portal, changes are applied and after typing the right password you are able to join the network.

Hi @fabby

I'm afraid I also didn't manage to reproduce this one either :(

I used a Mac and an iPhone.

On the Mac: after the wizard completed and the Pi rebooted, I got a prompt to tell the network was previously joined as open, and to ask me if I'm sure I wanted to connect. It then prompted me for a password and it worked first try.

On the iPhone: I tried to connect, it asked me for the security mode, I selected WPA, added my password and it connected.

I should mention that I disabled all other services (so I unticked DeltaChat, Chat etc) to isolate the behaviour for the wifi network.

Can you try and see if either using the latest image (built on the 05th of July) or disabling the other services makes a difference for you?

An update - I managed to reproduce this after a few tries, it looks like the hostapd service ends up in a failed state sometimes after that initial reboot. I have been testing various different hostapd configurations to see if any of them make a difference.
